KDPTop is a book market research tool for self-published authors on Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP). It crawls the public Amazon Best Sellers, New Releases and Top 100 Free lists every day for 10,978 book and Kindle categories, goes down to the Top 10,000 in 378 of them, and turns the data into sales estimates from Best Sellers Rank, author catalogs and release timelines, keyword search volume and new books breaking into the charts. Each category gets a decision card that shows the price band, the review barrier, how many new books got in recently and how much the list churns, then gives a Go, Crowded, Watch or Skip verdict. KDPTop is not affiliated with Amazon. An AI research assistant answers plain-language questions from this data with tables, charts and book cards, for example how an author is doing or whether a niche is worth writing. Users can also connect ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor or Grok to its MCP server with 30 tools and 9 ready-made workflows, or call the REST API with an OpenAPI schema. Other tools include a free KDP category finder that suggests categories and keywords from a one-sentence book description, a Chrome extension that shows estimated sales and rank history on Amazon pages, breakout alerts and CSV exports. The Free plan opens 1 full decision card a day, the first 10 rows of each list, 3 days of history and 100 API or MCP calls a day. Creator costs $19.99 a month or $199 a year for unlimited decision cards, 90 days of history, 2,000-row exports and breakout alerts; Pro costs $39 a month or $390 a year for 365 days of history, 20,000-row exports and 10,000 API calls a day; and Team costs $99 a month or $990 a year for 5 seats and 730 days of history. Sales and revenue figures are estimates and leave out Kindle Unlimited page reads. It suits indie authors, low-content publishers and small publishing studios choosing what to write next.
