Who It’s Best For
About the tool
LayerGrab is an AI tool that turns a flat picture into separate editable layers, aimed at designers, marketers and small shops working with images they have no layered source for. It takes PNG, JPG or WebP files up to 20 MB and usually returns 7 to 10 layers plus a filled background in 60 to 100 seconds, with a maximum of 16 layers. Each layer gets a readable English name. You can also name one element and get just that element back as a transparent PNG. Layers download as single PNG files, a ZIP or a layered PSD. The web app is joined by a Figma plugin and a Chrome extension that use the same account and credits, while the Photoshop and Sketch plugins are still in testing. There are clear limits. Text comes back as an image rather than editable type, cast shadows are not kept, and two runs on one image can separate it differently. Images go to an AI model run by a processing partner that is not named, and results are deleted after 30 days. Every account gets one free split of its own image, and sample splits work without an account. Basic costs $12 per month or $99 per year for 1,200 credits a month, about 120 layers. Premium costs $36 per month or $299 per year for 3,600 credits a month, about 450 layers. One-time packs cost $20 or $60. You pay per layer returned, failed splits are refunded in credits, and subscription credits do not roll over.
